Trained Drivers

A primary reason why Care Transit specializes in providing transport to patients with disabilities or medical conditions is our trained drivers. We have in-house trained, licensed, and insured drivers, who are trained in handling patients with medical conditions, physical disabilities or chronic conditions. Furthermore, our drivers are technically sound in handling equipment related to physical disability and practice safe driving methods. They have adequate knowledge of the vehicles and the associated gears with them, thus making them capable of maintaining their vehicles or inspecting them before a journey.

Furthermore, patients with medical conditions or physical disabilities need care, support and sympathy for their unique conditions and circumstances. Our drivers are trained in managing such situations professionally, and are able to provide empathy to our patients. This allows them to provide a safe, secure and homely environment to the patients during their journey.

• Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance:

  Drivers at Care Transit, along with our technical staff, ensure that all of our vehicles are regularly inspected for safety. They ensure that all the features are in adequate working conditions. Additionally, we also ensure that a vehicle bound for a trip undergoes a quick check before it leaves for its journey. We also ensure that our drivers possess adequate knowledge in troubleshooting emergencies with the vehicles or mobility equipment of the patients.

• Training and Awareness about Disabilities:

  Our drivers possess hands-on training in disability awareness. They are licensed and insured in handling patients with medical needs during transportation. Additionally, they are trained in how to handle patients with various medical needs. This even includes handling those with disabilities, chronic conditions or other medical requirements. Our drivers specialize in transporting patients with medical needs safely. They can even handle emergency assistance situations if needed for such patients. They have adequate knowledge of patient safety and mobility devices. They know how to handle wheelchairs or other such equipment. They know wheelchair securement techniques and safe driving practices.

These community participation programs emphasize on providing support to individuals with disabilities. The activities encourage active involvement in social, recreational, cultural and community activities. It also includes group-based activities which can develop one’s social and vocational skills.
